* Christopher Nolan - Collected Screenplays (10 books)

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN (b. 1970)
is one of the most commercially successful and influential filmmakers of the 21st century. His films are characterized by complex narrative structures, a focus on mathematical precision, and recurring themes like the fluid nature of time, memory, and identity. He frequently bridges the gap between major studio blockbusters and high-concept auteur cinema. To understand how he constructs these intricate stories, critics and fans often study his published scripts and screenplays, all of which are now available.

His early career is defined by low-budget, experimental features that introduced his signature non-linear storytelling style. His first published screenplays include his debut feature FOLLOWING (1998) and his breakout psychological thriller MEMENTO (2000), both of which experimented heavily with structural distortion. Following these indie successes, Nolan moved into studio filmmaking to direct a grounded superhero trilogy co-written with Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer: BATMAN BEGINS (2005), THE DARK KNIGHT (2008), and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (2012).

Between his superhero projects, Nolan continued to write and direct original, concept-driven films that explored reality and obsession. He co-adapted a story about rival Victorian magicians in THE PRESTIGE (2006) before writing the original dream-heist thriller INCEPTION (2010), which earned widespread acclaim for its nested timelines and structural ingenuity. He later expanded his narratives to larger canvas settings, publishing the scientifically grounded space-travel epic INTERSTELLAR (2014) and the multi-perspective World War II survival film DUNKIRK (2017).

Nolan’s recent published scripts showcase his ongoing interest in structural experimentation and historical events. The espionage film TENET (2020) focused on inverted timelines and temporal mechanics, while the biographical drama OPPENHEIMER (2023) was notably written in the first-person perspective to emphasize the protagonist's subjectivity. Rounding out his ten published screenplay volumes is his adaptation of THE ODYSSEY (2026), which applies his standard structural and cinematic techniques to classical mythology.
