Description

Flashback: Dr. Forster (Ulrich Noethen), Gereon (Volker Bruch), and the latter’s brother have fled the press ball. Gereon accompanies Dr. Forster on his escape to Paris. During a stopover in Cologne, they experience a tumultuous night amidst the Carnival celebrations. The next morning, thanks to the intervention of Gereon’s father, the two travel to Paris as part of Konrad Adenauer’s entourage. Upon arrival at the airfield, the German ambassador is waiting with an arrest warrant—while in a café frequented by exiles, a familiar melody plays.
