Former yakuza boss Ryuzo is living a boring life in retirement. After a new generation of gangsters starts to terrorize what used to be Ryuzo’s turf, he assembles his former brothersinarms, leading to a showdown between the old and the young. Marking a return to his comedy roots, Takeshi Kitano deals with the subject of an aging society through the lens of his favorite genre, the yakuza film.
