Madame Butterfly is a co-production between Taiwan, France, and Italy, created to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Italian opera composer Giacomo Puccini's birth. The film tells the story of a woman who goes to bed with a man in a hotel. The man runs away without paying, forcing her to pay the bill herself, leaving her penniless and stranded at a station, waiting for an unknown savior.
