Synopsis:
Set in the Iranian holy city of Mashhad, Rahimi (Zar Amir Ebrahimi), a fearless female journalist from Tehran, arrives to investigate a serial killer known as the "Spider Killer." Saeed Azimi (Mehdi Bajestani), a religious fanatic and family man, believes he is embarking on a divine mission to "cleanse" the holy city of moral corruption by hunting down and murdering local sex workers at night. As Rahimi delves deeper into the dark underbelly of the city, she faces immense systemic misogyny, police apathy, and bureaucratic resistance. When Saeed is finally captured, Rahimi is horrified to discover that a large segment of the conservative public and media idolize him as a religious hero, forcing her to confront a society deeply entangled in institutionalized violence and misplaced martyrdom.
