It is based on the novel *Frankenstein Unbound* (1973) by Brian Aldiss, which was loosely inspired by characters from Mary Shelley's novel *Frankenstein* (1818).

Nella ipotetica Nuova Los Angeles del 2031, uno scienziato (voce narrante del film) sta conducendo degli studi per la realizzazione di un'arma potentissima.
