Synopsis:
The epic saga of the Carati family continues from the late 1970s through the dawn of the 2001 millennium. In Part 2, the deeply personal trajectories of the two brothers, Nicola and Matteo, further mirror the turbulent socio-political evolution of modern Italy. Nicola faces the emotional fallout of his relationship with Giulia as she descends into radical political extremism and the armed militancy of the Years of Lead. Meanwhile, Matteo continues to grapple with severe internal isolation while serving as a police officer across Palermo and Rome. As tragedies strike and the older generation passes, the family structure undergoes radical shifts, leading to unexpected reconnections and the cultivation of hope within the next generation.
