Background Information:
The entire intro by Jack Nicholson is included as a separate track.
“Sunday Bloody Sunday” appears here with Bono’s introduction where he says “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and the track comes in at 05:24.
“Bad” fades out on every release:
- on the 2004 DVD release plays into an interview with Phil Collins, and runs 12:02 in total, but is split into two pieces.
- on The Unforgettable Fire 2009 edition, the audio fades out early to avoid the interview with Phil Collins.
- on the 2018 first audio release, the track is 12:12 in length, and fades out before the interview with Collins.
- on the 2021 release, the editing of the tracks is done the same as the 2018 release of Live Aid in audio format in digital storefronts.
Why isn't it complete? I don't know. That's why I decided to mix it with the last 2 minutes of "Bad" live from Birmingham, Nov. 12, 1984 from the "Wide Awake In America" EP. I removed the vocals using MVSEP voice removal.
For this mix I did not use the “The Unforgettable Fire” 2009 30th anniversary edition, or the 2018 digital audio of Live Aid or the 2021 digital release of U2’s performance at Live Aid because they are heavily compressed and brickwalled. Unlistenable!
Yes, AC3 is lossy, but the dynamic range is almost identical to the 2018 digital FLAC version reaching 22 kHz.
