In un futuro post-apocalittico, in Australia,[6] a bordo della sua V8 Interceptor Max, solitario ex poliziotto ossessionato dalla perdita della famiglia avvenuta durante i primi giorni del collasso globale, vaga nel deserto. Max viene catturato dai Figli di Guerra, un'armata di guerrieri dalla pelle tinta di bianco, comandati da Immortan Joe, un signore della guerra che grazie alle riserve d'acqua in suo possesso controlla la comunità che sorge all'estremità della desertica Fury Road.
