Compression Logic
I use an automated script that leverages NVIDIA NVENC to compress videos to H.265 using a default Constant Quality (CQ) of 25. It skips 1080p videos with bitrates below ~3 Mbps and any video that is already H.265. After encoding, it verifies that the file size was reduced by at least 5%; otherwise, it deletes the compressed version and keeps the original. For 4K videos, the script automatically downscales to 1080p and uses a slightly higher quality setting of CQ 24 to preserve detail.
