Childhood friends Tetsuo and Kaneda are pulled into the post-apocalyptic underworld of Neo-Tokyo and forced to fight for their very survival. Kaneda is a bike gang leader, and Tetsuo is a member of a tough motorcycle crew who becomes involved in a covert government project called Akira. ⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE: Released in 1988, Akira is a landmark achievement that revolutionized the cyberpunk genre and paved the way for the global popularization of adult anime. Its unprecedented budget allowed for incredibly fluid hand-drawn animation that still sets standards today.
To honor this legacy, the Japanese 2.0 track preserves the true, original 1988 theatrical experience. For the English audio, I deliberately included the highly regarded Pioneer 5.1 Dub, which offers a vastly superior viewing experience compared to the mediocre original dub. As for the French audio, I only kept the Original Dub: the recent redub is nearly identical since almost all the original voice actors reprised their roles.
Regarding the file size (4.59 GB): This is fully intentional. It allows for the preservation of the original cel animation texture and film grain without any destructive smoothing, while accommodating the multiple high-quality audio tracks included in this release.

Son budget inédit a permis une animation traditionnelle d'une fluidité qui reste une référence absolue aujourd'hui.
Pour respecter cet héritage, la piste japonaise 2.0 représente la véritable expérience en salle de 1988. Pour l'anglais, j'ai décidé d'intégrer l'excellent doublage Pioneer en 5.1, bien supérieur au doublage original.
