Teca is 77 and lives in the village of Muriti, in the Amazon, when she is surprised by the announcement of the age reduction, including her age group. Cornered, Teca makes an intriguing journey hidden from the officers amidst rivers, boats and the underworld to clandestinely try to fulfill her last dream, to take a plane ride.

In un Brasile del futuro prossimo, la parte più anziana della popolazione viene al tempo stesso celebrata e ostracizzata, in una serie di attività cerimoniali di facciata che nascondono un tentativo di controllo e di rimozione forzata dalla società. È il caso di Tereza, che come molti altri è costretta a smettere di lavorare finendo sotto la custodia della figlia, senza poter nemmeno comprare cose in autonomia. Ancora fieramente indipendente, la donna non vuole rassegnarsi a trascorrere il resto dei suoi giorni nell'inquietante "colonia" in cui la vorrebbe il governo, e con il sogno di volare a bordo di un aereo si incammina in un clandestino viaggio di scoperta.
