Dangerous Encounters - 1st Kind is one of the most radical, violent, and influential works of the New Wave: a black hole of punk nihilism that explicitly expresses the anti-imperialist stance of the author, who depicts Hong Kong on the brink of implosion. British censorship forced the director to re-edit the film, blocking its theatrical release, which only took place a year later.
