After a frightening episode of temporary blindness, ten‑year‑old Mona is told that permanent vision loss can’t be ruled out, and her doctors prescribe weekly psychiatric sessions to help her cope. Instead, her art‑obsessed grandfather Henry secretly uses those fifty‑two Wednesdays to take her to Paris museums—Louvre, Orsay, Pompidou—where they study one masterpiece per visit, from Botticelli to Basquiat, talking about beauty, history, and the lives behind the paintings. Over a year, these encounters with art become lessons in generosity, melancholy, love, loss, and revolt, reshaping Mona’s understanding of herself and the world and turning the novel into both an emotionally rich intergenerational story and an accessible tour through five centuries of Western art.
