This is the release of Shadow’s Edge (2024), presented as a 1080p downscale from a high-frame-rate (HFR) 4K streaming source. The HFR actually works surprisingly well—smooth motion, sharp choreography, and an energy most films don’t attempt. Anyone expecting the usual cinematic 24fps look might be a little surprised at first, but it settles in nicely. Audio is in DD+ 5.1 with Mandarin & English dialogue, and English, French & Korean subtitles are included.
Also, yes—Jackie Chan is in this, and despite his age he still delivers with that signature physical charm and timing that only he can pull off. The man genuinely still has it.
Fun extra: during early post-production, the director experimented with alternating HFR and standard-frame segments for mood shifts before deciding to keep the entire final cut in HFR for consistency. Enjoy!
