Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza is Peter Beinart’s bold and urgent reckoning with Jewish identity, politics, and ethics in the aftermath of the 2023–24 Gaza War. As a prominent journalist and longtime analyst of Jewish communal life and Israeli politics, Beinart critiques the "persecution and victimhood" narrative that has dominated Jewish self-understanding—especially in relation to the Israeli state and its actions in Gaza.

Drawing on his personal experience, extensive scholarship, and recent events, Beinart calls for a profound retelling of Jewish identity: one that moves beyond seeing Jews primarily as history's perennial victims and instead embraces the hard work of moral reconstruction, non-supremacy, and genuine equality with Palestinians.
